There is actually a website that can give you words that rhymes with the word you are looking for.Today I needed to know:  What rhymes with event? descent, intent, prevent, repent, resent, segment

What rhymes with Stead/dead? dread, head, pled, read, said, instead, ahead

I think I finished with the poem but maybe I can add some phrases still?

The ship struck an ice berg and started to descent?

Although he boarded the doomed ship, he didn’t intent?

If only his foresight could prevent

him from boarding the doomed ship instead

I like the last two phrases.

William T. Stead

This is the story of William T. Stead
who is now, sadly, dead.
Not of old-age but by a tragic event
involving a big ship and an iceberg ahead.

He was a famous British journalist
who especially wrote two tales
about two ships and their passengers losing their lives
while on route during their Atlantic sails.

If only he took heed to the stories he foretold
about some ships not having enough lifeboats on board
[If only his foresight could prevent
him from boarding the doomed ship instead.]
